Interior and Office Renovation
U.S. Federal Court of Appeals Courtrooms 203 & 201
EGI was the prime contractor on this design/bid/build and design/build construction project for the complete renovation and historic restoration of Courtroom 203 and the audio/visual systems in Courtroom 201. This fast-track project was performed for the GSA and took place in an occupied courthouse and office building. EGI effectively managed many challenging conditions associated with this project. All work in this highly secure facility was closely monitored, and all onsite personnel required security clearances.
National Battleground Historic Lodge and Rostrum Restoration
EGI performed an historic restoration to the Lodge and Rostrum at the National Battleground Cemetery located in Washington, DC near the location of the Battle of Fort Stevens. The marble rostrum, originally built shortly after the battle in 1864, was badly in need of restoration. EGI performed plaster ceiling and concrete foundation replacement and delicately removed rust stains and other mars from the marble. Today, this structure is used to perform annual Memorial Day services.
Department of Homeland Security Nebraska Avenue Complex
The restoration of this historic building, located at the Nebraska Avenue Complex campus of the Department of Homeland Security, was especially challenging due to the stringent security requirements, its downtown metropolitan location, and working within the parameters of the Historic Register’s Review Board.
EGI was the prime contractor on the construction which included the renovation of the entire third floor, totaling more than 13,000 square feet. The scope included demolition, hazardous material abatement, build-back with new installation for architectural systems, suspended ceilings, doors/frames/hardware, flooring surfaces, electrical systems, mechanical systems and fire sprinklers.
Joint Base Anacostia Building 411
EGI performed this design/bid/build project to construct a new, 6,000+ sq ft. facility on top of existing office space. The new facility houses ADA-compliant men’s and women’s restrooms and locker rooms. Additionally, EGI constructed a new stair tower to provide access from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor. Specific work included demolition, MEP and life-safety systems, site work and utilities, structural steel, concrete and masonry, carpentry and framing, roofing elevators, doors and windows, and interior finishes.
